Winton is a mediator and arbitrator with extensive dispute resolution experience. He has conducted several complex multi-party mediations on a variety of legal issues related to:

  • commercial matters including shareholder and directors disputes, securities issues, real estate, class actions, and wills and estates;

  • negligence and insurance claims including personal injury and medical malpractice.

During Winton's career as a litigator, he appeared at all level of Courts of British Columbia as well as the Supreme Court of Canada. Winton draws on the experience of having practiced for over 40 years as a litigator in the areas of corporate, commercial, securities, family, and administrative law at a leading national law firm, where he also headed the Litigation group in the Vancouver office. He then went on to act as General Counsel at a large restaurant chain followed by working for a Vancouver based investment firm where he oversaw the successful sale of that company to a national brokerage firm.

He also acted in a securities case that is still the leading case regarding disclosure pursuant to the Securities Act of British Columbia.
